A Review of Sunday with an Encouragement for Monday

Easter Sunday is alway a special time at Cornerstone. The focus of the entire day was the victory of Jesus at the Resurrection. The Sunday School hour examined the appearances of Jesus after His resurrection as well as the power that the resurrection gave through the Holy Spirit.

In the Morning Preaching Service, Pastor Cowan preached an encouraging message entitled, "Then Came the Morning." It was a dark time in Jerusalem while Christ was in the tomb, but then came the morning of Christ's Resurrection and light once again shown in a dark world. In the Evening Preaching Service, we were challenged by a powerful message entitled: "It's Not About the Bread." This sermon encouraged us to notice the big picture of serving Christ. You can listen to that message here: https://vimeo.com/1180303071

The Lord's victory the first Easter give the Christian power and hope in a dark world. We must live in that power and victory. We must also see that God has a plan for us in everything that He asks us to do. It is not about the little tasks, but rather the big picture and what God is accomplishing in and through us.

A Review of Sunday and an Encouragement for Monday

Sunday, March 22 was a wonderful Sunday at Cornerstone. We continued our study of the Apostles of Christ in the Sunday School hour, looking at the Apostle James.

In the Morning Preaching Service, Pastor Cowan preached a message entitled, "The Four Looks of the Lord's Supper". This timely message reminded us of the price Christ paid at Calvary. In the Evening Preaching Service, we were challenged by a message from Acts 28 entitled, "Don't Let That Viper Stop You." This important message focussed on the importance of not being an accuser as well as not letting accusation keep us from going forward for God. In this special Easter season, let us be determined to remember what Christ did for us at Calvary. Also, we must be close to the Lord so accusation do not keep us from accomplishing what the Lord has for us to do.

A Review of Sunday with Encouragement for the Week

March 1 was a wonderful day at Cornerstone. The Lord met with us in both Preaching Services as well as in Sunday School. During the Sunday School hour, we continued our lessons on the Apostles. We looked at the life of Matthew. These studies have been very interesting and informative.

In the Morning Service, Pastor Cowan preached a challenging message entitled, "What Does Your Grace Look Like?" We examined the life of Noah to recognize that the Grace of God does not alway lead in a path of ease and comfort. Sometimes it takes us on a path of trouble, but it always leads us to accomplishing God's will for us.

In the Evening Service, the church was encouraged by a message entitled, "A Good Report." We are to thing and dwell on things of a good report so that we can also have a good report.

Each service is an opportunity to serve God and also have Him meet with us. Make a determination to be a part of every service at Cornerstone. You will learn in Sunday School, be encouraged in the Morning Service, and challenged in the Evening Service.

A Review of Sunday and an Encouragement for Monday

The Lord met with us thi Sunday. We had a wonderful time in the Sunday School hour as well as the Morning and Evening Preaching Services. In Sunday School, the classes looked at different things that God wants us to give unto Him from 1 Chronicles 16.

In the Morning Service, Pastor Cowan encouraged the church to grow in our faith. He preached a message entitled "When Your Faith is Increased" from 2 Corinthains 10:15-16. In the Evening Service, the church was challenged by a timely message entitled "How to Win Them". Pastor showed them importance of sharing the Gospel with the lost, and how that wisdom will compel us to be witnesses. As we begin a new week, let us be dedicated to having a growing faith. Let the Lord work in your heart and yeild yourself to the Holy Spirt. Let us also determine that we will be Christians that are sharing our faith and the Gospel of Christ with a lost and dying world.

A Review of Sunday with an Encouragement for Monday

Sunday, February 8 was a wonderful day at Cornerstone. God moved in the services all day. The Sunday School hour was a great time of encouragement as we looked at the Joy we can have in Giving unto the Lord.

In the Morning Preaching Service, Pastor Cowan challenged the church to climb and claim the mountains that God has for us to conquer in a message entitled, "Conquering Giants to Get That Mountain." We examined the life of Caleb and his trust in the Lord that led him to conquer giants and claim Mount Hebron that had been promised to him. In the Evening Preaching Service, Pastor preached a pointed messaged regarding the link between our faith in God and our love for God. Often we say we love God but fail to obey what He has told us to do. This indicates a lack of faith, which points to a lack of love. You can listen to that message here: https://vimeo.com/1163056879

God desire for us to be Christians who have a determination to do what He has called us to do. Whether it is conquering a giant, climbing a mountain, or taking a simple step of faith and obedience, God wants us to rely on Him.

Sunday, February 1 was a great day at Cornerstone. In the Sunday School hour we continued to look at the types of Giver that we can be:

- Non-giver

- Deceiver Giver

- Obstinate Giver

- Regretful Giver

- Opportunistic Giver

- Want Too Giver

What an encouragement to be faithful to give how the Lord has instructed us to give.

In the Morning Preaching Service, Pastor Cowan challenged the church with a message entitled "Growing Thereby" from 1 Peter 2. It went with our yearly theme of "Grow in Grace." You can view that message here: https://vimeo.com/1159490667

The Evening Preaching Service was a great time of fellowship, singing, and preaching from God's Word. Pastor brought a timely message entitled "Answered Prayers" from the book of Nehemiah. Let us be Christians who are diligently seeking spiritaul growth and maturity in our lives. Let us also decide that we will be Christians of prayer, have confidence in prayer, and share the answers to prayer God grants us.

Sunday, January 25 was Missions Sunday 2026 at Cornerstone Baptist Church. We had Pastor Matt Hudson from Bella Vista Baptist Church in Albuquerque as our guest preacher for the services. God moved in a mighty way as the hearts of people were stirred to spread the Gospel.

In the Morning Preaching service, the church heard a message entitled "Following God Fully." We looked at the life of Caleb and were challenged by this thought: "Can God take your goals and use them for His glory." Listen to that message here: https://vimeo.com/1157063514

In the Evening Preaching service we heard a powerful message entitled "Involvement vs. Commitment." We examined the difference between someone who is involved in Missions and someone who is committed to Missions. God has blessed us so much. We have been given an opportunity to participate in getting the Gopsel through the entire world. Ask God to work in your heart as to what He would have you to do in Missions. If you have already made a commitment, ask the Lord to help you be faithful in fulfilling what you have committed to Him.

A Review of Sunday and an Encouragement for Monday

God gave Cornerstone a wonderful Sunday. There was a great spirit in Sunday School and both Preaching Services. During the Sunday School hour, we examined the importance of giving to the Lord through our missions giving.

In the Morning Service, Pastor Cowan preached an encouraging and pointed message entitled "I'd Join That Church" in which he challenged CBC to be like the Church of Antioch. In the Evening Service we were joined by Missionary Seth Demarest to Uganda. He has been serving in Africa for 8 years. It was great to meet a servant of God and learn some of the work that the Lord is during in Uganda. He preached a challenging message from John 3:16 entitled "Who Do You Love?" Both of the messages had an emphasis on missions. As we close out January next week we will be making our new fatih promise mission commitments. Please be in prayer as to what God would have you to do in this area. Pray that God will use the services next week to stir the hearts of those that will be making a promise to the Lord regarding giving.

A Reveiw of Sunday with an Encouragement for the Week

The Lord gave us a wonderful Sunday! We had Brother Timothy Aubin with us in the Morning and Evening Services. Bro. Tim is a senior at Golden State Baptist College and will be joining Team Cornerstone for next school year. He will be a great addition.

A Review of Sunday with an Encouragement for Monday

The Lord gave us a great first Sunday of 2026. This past Wednesday (the last day of 2025), Pastor Cowan introduced our new Theme, "Grow in Grace." We will be looking at different aspect of our Growth throughout the year, starting with "Let's Grow There."

The evening message was entitled "Harvesting by Grace." The main thrust of this message was that we must have prepared ground, we must sow, and we must keep, if we will experience a harvest. As we enter 2026, let us be diligent to have prepared hearts so that the seed of God's Word may fall on good and receptive ground.

A Review of Sunday and an Encouragement for Monday

The Lord gave us great service on the last Sunday of 2025. In the morning service we were joined by the Evangelist Andrew Rardin Family. They are missionaries to the churches of America with Ambassador Baptist Ministries of Bourbonnais, Illinois. He preached a powerful and pointed message entitled, "I Just Can't Help It". During the evening service, Pastor Cowan encouraged and challenged us with a message entitled, "Some Things Never Change". Sunday, December 28, was a fabulous day in the Lord's House.
