…For Such a Time as This…Est 4:14

While it is a seriously strange time, in that it seems as though all the cogs have stopped and the machinery has grinded to a halt, we look at each outer and wonder, “Now what?”  Schedules are upside down, the frantic daily grind of navigating soccer practice with piano lessons and finding a way to shop for groceries so supper is at a reasonable time is suddenly gone. So now what?!

While not a single person would desire the situation we are facing as a country with an unknown virus that seems to have taken over the world’s economy, there is somethings that can be enjoyed in, “Such a time as this.”  Here are a few suggestions of do’s and don’ts during this period of change.
DON'T
  • Allow frustrations to cause us to murmur and complain. This only leads us to a negative spirit that is not helpful.
  • Allow yourself to talk negatively about the leadership, especially around our followers. That sets a dangerous precedent for them as they must be willing to follow the leadership God puts into our lives.
  • Become a recluse! Social distancing does not mean isolation! Make calls, talk to neighbors from a distance. But do not isolate yourself!
  • Become TV junkies! Limit how much time is spent on that type of activity. Limit the amount of media you consume. Stay informed. But avoid becoming, “glued” to the news

DO
  • Start a Bible study
    • Search out the words in a study.
    • Use the Bible program that is a free download on our website.
    • Study subjects like child rearing, Marriage, Stewardship, and the Peace of God.
  • Spend time as a family
    • Yard games & Board games are great fun!
  • Spend time with your sweetheart
    • Rekindle that fire for each other.
  • Spend time alone
    • Increase your prayer time.
    • Increase your Bible time.
    • Spend time just meditating on the Word of God.

During this time of the Covid shutdown, I want to help us stay connected and provide you with the plan forward for Cornerstone Baptist Church. While we still understand that things are still fluid, we nonetheless want to make provision to move forward. Therefore, we have made the following plans and programs to cover the next few weeks.

May 5, we will observe the Lord’s Supper. It will be a parking lot services, and you will remain in your vehicles. We have technology platforms that will allow you to hear through your cell phone. We will provide you with instructions as you arrive. The service will begin at 6:30pm in the parking lot at Cornerstone Baptist Church.

May 17 we will begin to have public services at all the regular scheduled times; Sunday school at 10am, preaching at 11am, and evening at 6pm with Wed services at 7pm. We only encourage those who feel that it is safe to attend. If you are high risk or feel that it is not best for you to attend, we completely understand. We will implement distancing procedures to help maintain as safe an environment as possible.

Beginning Saturday, April 25 we have three new programs for differing groups in the Church that will be conducted over the next five weeks.
 1. 9:30am Junior Church/Sunday school will be available on a Zoom platform. Please contact the offices so we may give you instructions on how your children may interact on a live event.
 2. 10:15am Brother Rick Kay will be conducting a Discipleship course to anyone who desires to participate via a Zoom platform. This class will an interactive live feed class. He will be teaching lessons that are not the same as his new discipleship course. So whether you’ve participated in his classes prior or not, these lessons will be a tremendous blessing. Please contact us so you may learn how to participate.
 3. 3:00pm Mrs. Cowan will be sharing a devotion with our ladies that will be available on both Facebook and our website. These are short but helpful devotions to help keep our ladies strong and encouraged.

And finally, May 18, Cornerstone Christian Academy will resume on campus classes for all grades. The year will conclude on June 25. The school’s schedule will be 8am-3pm Monday thru Thursday. No classes will be conducted on Friday.

If you have any questions, feel free to call us. We look forward to visiting with you. Remember, Be Strong!
